Enabling New Trading Possibilities in Australia
Thomson Reuters now supports Australia’s two new trading venues: Chi-X Australia and ASX PureMatch, which recently joined the ASX to offer more trading possibilities to investors. Chi-X Australia is a low latency and high performance trading system, while PureMatch is a new ultra low latency trading platform.
Chi-X Australia introduces the Australian market to new orders types, the potential for lower costs and a more efficient way to trade, which can attract new sources of liquidity, thereby narrowing spreads, reducing transaction costs and growing the overall size of the Australian market. Chi-X Australia listed for trading the S&P/ASX 200 index constituent securities and domestic Exchange Traded Funds (approximately 251 securities).
The main feature of the new ASX PureMatch platform is its high frequency, low latency trading and is aimed at professional speculators and traders. The platform lists a subset of ASX-listed securities, namely the S&P/ASX 200 stocks, plus domestic index Exchange Traded Funds.
New Consolidated View for Australian Equity Trading Markets
Following these changes in the Australian equity market, Thomson Reuters has introduced a new consolidated view that incorporates trade information for all three local trading venues – the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), ASX PureMatch and Chi-X Australia.
The new view includes a calculation of the National Best BID Offer (NBBO) that is consolidated from particular securities order books from each trading venue.
Initially only the constituents of the Australian S&P/ASX 200 Index and domestic Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have been listed on the new venues (ASX PureMatch and Chi-Australia) with a consolidated view only available for these dual listed securities.
The Thomson Reuters consolidated view has the benefit of providing consolidated price (trade transactions) and order book changes in one RIC. Our consolidated view will support the base pricing information, Open, high, Low, Last, Accumulated Volume, Turnover, net change, percentage change, VAP, level 1 BID and ASK.
